Multitasker: Federica Somma
From Italy, Federica is a contemporary dancer with very good partnering and improvisation skills.
At the age of 19 Federica moved to London to pursue her professional career in dance.
Since then Federica has dance for artists like Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Rhys Lewis, Au/Ra, Roberto Surrace, Moss Kena and many more.
She have worked for important fashion brands including some Maison Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Uniqlo, Ellesse, Miista, Equinox and more. She also started in Men in Black 4 and collaborate with Amazon for a footwear campaign.
You moved from Italy to London to pursue your dancing career. Would you say that London has an impact on your work?
London has had an impact on my work for sure. The training and job opportunities are endless.
When was the moment that you discovered that dance was the career path that you wanted to take?
The moment that stood out for me is when I moved to another city in Italy to train as a professional dancer at 14 years old.
Dance is extremely competitive. You’re constantly being judged and having to prove yourself. How do you deal with the pressures?
The dance industry is mentally challenging , but my secret is to believe and trust in yourself no matter what.
How would you define your style of dance?
Experimental. Contaminato in Italian
