Homemade coffee body scrub

Winter and lockdown is here which means two things... sweatpants and hot coffee! (Maybe, one too many coffees)
We have put together a recipe that not only keeps your skin silky smooth, but utilises your old coffee grounds (Yesss, your coffee tastes better with no waste).
Do you use coffee capsules to make your coffee? Worry not, simply peal back the film from the top of the capsule. This will reveal 5-7 grams of used coffee grounds per capsule that can be removed with a teaspoon.
The added bonus is by creating your own beauty products from all-natural and organic ingredients insures that you’re keeping toxins out of your body.
The coarse particles in coffee grounds work as an exfoliating agent to help remove dirt and dead cells from the skin. The caffeine in the grounds has antioxidant properties and contains a natural astringent which makes it a good face toner and cleanser. Stimulating skin cells, which can produce tighter, healthier skin.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup used, dried coffee grounds
  • 1 cup organic brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
To make:
  • If not already in liquid form, melt your coconut oil and allow to cool without becoming solid again
  • Mix in your used coffee grounds and sugar or salt
  • Store in an airtight container
To use:
  • While in the shower or tub, rub coffee scrub into skin to exfoliate – *if you’re going to shave, make sure to shave after using the scrub as to not irritate your skin.
  • Rinse skin clean
  • Make sure to moisturise afterwards
